The retired shuttle was cheered by the crowd of thousands on the Mall each of the three times it passed overhead, just to the south of the Washington Monument. The oldest of the shuttle fleet was headed to land at Dulles International Airport and then its final destination of the Smithsonian's Udvar-Hazy center in Chantilly, VA
